Joel Fundaun - Class of 2010!

Chris and I had an awesome time photographing Joel's Senior Portraits today! Joel is an amazing young man. He is a great athlete and student at Lead-Deadwood high school and he was a lot of fun to visit with during the session. We found some great locations in Spearfish for his session and I am really excited to post more later. But for now, here is one Chris took today and one of my many favorites!

Chelsee Jacobs

Wow, how time flies by! Chelsee is a 2010 senior from Lead-Deadwood high school. I've known Chelsee for almost six years now as she made her way through the middle school athletic program and on to my Freshman volleyball team. Chelsee you have grown into a very beautiful lady and I am so excited you asked me to photograph your senior portraits. Here is one of my favorites from today's session with many more to follow. Chelsee brought lots of fun outfit changes and even brought her dirt bike!

Team Love

Team Love - defn. - A Love Team that is formed by two people who use their index fingers and thumbs to form one heart while one says “Team” and the other follows with “Love”.

The day was a beaming 107ยบ as Cari got ready for her wedding day with her closest friends as bridesmaids. We battled the heat for her bridal portraits finding any ounce of shade available. The ladies were amazing sports soaking up the sun for as many photos as I could get in before Cari’s groom arrived.

As the girls left to freshen up , Ben and his groomsmen arrived. They arrived under grey skies.

(“Grey Skies?” you ask?!)

Yes, in a matter of minutes we were blanketed by a line of clouds to cool off the day before guests would arrive. Needless to say, Ben’s groom portraits were evenly lit from the overcast afternoon.

Conversation and laughter rose through the air as Ben & Cari’s guests began to gather. With Cari and the bridesmaids anxiously awaiting in the limo ushers began sitting guests.  As the beautifully lined rows of white chairs began to fill, the clouds opened up for the worst rain fall all summer.

It felt like a hurricane had just hit the Black Hills.  Family and Friends rushed to save decorations and the sand unity as we all rushed to the church for the new ceremony location.

Ben & Cari’s guests streamed into the church filling the pews to be there to support and witness their love for each other unite in marriage.

Rain or shine Ben & Cari were getting married! They recited their vows to each other with ease and exchanged rings with beaming smiles. Once Ben was finally able to kiss his bride, they marched off to greet guests.

We finished up their wedding portraits that afternoon in the church and as Ben & Cari emerged to their reception get away car the clouds parted and a rainbow formed over their route to the celebration.

I don’t think Cari will mind me saying “This is not what she had dreamed of for their wedding day.” But after months of hard work and planning in the end two hearts still said “I Do”.

I’m sharing this story for three reasons.

1)Ben and Cari are amazing friends that are near and dear to my heart.

2)They are an amazing couple to have endured so much on their wedding day and still make it through the reception with smiles.

3)I recently was able to document their love for each other as their two year anniversary was approaching. And their connection as husband and wife continues to grow stronger every year!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY
