A recent email to a good friend sums it up well:
Yes, in November we decided to be done with my first studio location. I just wasn't happy with the exposure and the size and I was ready for something new and bigger. So we knew Dec, Jan, Feb would be slow months and just bookings anyway and we got rid of the studio. Our plan was to sell our home and then get a bigger commercial space for the studio and a small apartment or find a commercial lot to build the studio of our DREAMS LOL!!!
On Dec 30th people were asking where we were moving and I wrote on my blog "Staying in Spearfish!"
The first week of Jan. my great aunt who is 89 was put in the hospital again and received a pacemaker during her stay.
Chris and I talked about our life and we were ready for a new adventure and ready to be with my family for a change.
So Chris asked to go back to full time with his company but at the Rapid City branch and I vowed to help my parents with my great aunt taking her to doctors appointments and helping her organize her 6 times a day meds! YUCK! It's hard enough for anyone to remember 6 times but an 89 year old!
We are going to be staying in an apartment that is on my great aunts property so that I can check up on her during the day and we can help with yard work. Chris is already fixing everything around the house. We were back and forth alot from Spearfish the last few weeks and a spell of high blood pressure put my great aunt back in the hospital for a week. She is back at home now and seems stronger willed then ever before to get better this time.
We moved alot of furniture this weekend and it is starting to feel like home in Rapid City.
The house borders forest service and Chris is in heaven with the idea of hiking and running in the hills. I love the peacefulness of the property and I am trying to find a balance between life, family and my business. Chris is loving working in the Rapid City branch of FourFront Design. The company is amazing and they are getting ready for a lot of great projects around the Downtown area of Rapid. It has been awesome to be closer to Ryan and Kateri and we were truly missing out on a lot of friends lives in Rapid. We are sad to be away from Deb and Gary in Spearfish but we see them at least once a week still at this point. And we are trying to make sure we make an effort for our Spearfish friends as well :)
We have had a great time living with my parents the last few weeks. Family dinners and scrabble games!
I am just focusing on the wedding photography right now and laying low for a few months. Preparing new campaigns for our next studio. I want to make a big impression when we get started here. I am hoping we will have something by May.
When the storm of things calms right now I will be able to update my clients & business sites again.
And because a post is always better with a picture ;) Here is a sneak of a recent new born session!
